Opal Bernice Harvey, 88, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Chad Mantooth, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street.

Opal was born in 1920 in Frisco, Okla. She attended school in Buffalo Flat, which was near Turkey. Opal married Graham Harvey in 1939 in Amarillo. Opal and Graham would have celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on Nov. 19, 2008.

She was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Amarillo and was a Christian example to all who knew her. She loved her home and family.

Opal's hobbies and interests were centered on her family and church activities.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Annie Baker; and two brothers, Lester Baker and Dale Baker.

Survivors include her husband, Graham B. Harvey; three sons, James and wife Martha of Bowie, Barry and wife Queena of Amarillo and Gerald and Naomi of Aurora, Colo.; six sisters, Izell Proctor, Clova Dell Cogdill, Dorothy Conner, Irene Morris, Alma Garms and Lenora McPeak; three brothers, J.B. Baker, Lee Roy Baker and Eugene Baker; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of others who knew her as "Granny."

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
