J.D. Leak
J.D. Leak, 81, died at his late residence here Sunday and was buried in Bay Minette cemetery Monday afternoon. "Major" Leak, as he was affectionately known had been a resident of Baldwin County for a number of years, coming here from Birmingham. He was formerly Game Warden of Baldwin County and was an outstanding sportsman. He is survived by a son, S.L. Leak, and two daughters, Mrs. Jessie McMilan and Mrs. Alice Alford. (The Times expects to carry a more complete story on the death of this fine citizen, who so suddenly was taken from us, in next weeks paper.)

James D. Leak Buried Sunday
James D. Leak, a resident of Bay Minette since 1912 and one of the towns most respected citizens, passed to his reward on Sunday night, February 9th as a result of an acute attack of indigestion suffered shortly after the evening meal. Mr. Leak was in his room in the White building when his groans called some of his friends to the room where he was found in critical condition and within a short time he passed away.
My Leak was born in Montgomery Co. in the year 1848 where he lived as a boy. Nov. 11, 1887 he married Clementine Alice Parker, also of Montgomery Co. and to this union six children were born. Three of the children are still living and all reside in Bay Minette. They are Mrs. Jesse McMillan, Mrs. Alice Alford, and Mrs. J. Leak. There are ten grandchildren in the family and 11 great-grandchildren, all of whom are alive.
Mr. Leak joined the Baptist Church while yet a young man and was a consistent member until death. Following his marriage, he moved from Montgomery Co. to Birmingham where he engaged in the contracting and building business and acquired and operated a brick manufacturing business in connection with his contract work. He was a successful business man and when he came to Bay Minette in 1912 he was able to retire from active business. Mrs. Leak, his wife, died in Bay Minette on May 11, 1913, and since that time, Mr. Leak has spent his time with his friends and relatives. He was a great lover of the outdoors and at one time served Baldwin County as the county game warden. His last years were spent mostly hunting and fishing and it was almost a daily sight to see "Major" Leak and some of his friends headed for some of the nearby fishing waters for a days outing.
It was the intention of Mr. Leak to make the race for the office of Mayor of Bay Minette in the Fall election and he had in mind a number of big plans for the improvement of the town.
His many friends will miss his pleasant association and his jovial disposition will never be duplicated. His surviving relatives have the sympathy of the entire community.
