Mary Foos Stephenson, the eighth child born to George W. Foos and Rebecca (Dorsey) Collins Foos. She was born in Grand Prairie Township, Marion County Ohio. As a young woman, she supported her mother and brother by working as a seamstress.

Mary was married twice. Her first marriage in 1899 to Charley Ingle (Charles Edward Ingle) came as a surprise to many. Mary had lost her eldest brother and father in a brief amount of time that year, and calmer heads appealed to her to have the marriage annulled. Her mother reminded her of the mistake of marrying too young - from personal experience. Rebecca Foos also reminded her that she married without consent and claimed to be older than she was.

She was introduced to Harry Stephenson of Michigan by her brother Charles Foos. She and Harry were married and made their home in Mecosta County Michigan. The couple had three children, Harry Jr. Laurene (Laurie) and Vera.

Mary died in Silver Springs, Montgomery County, Maryland on February 10, 1967. Preceded in death by parents, husband, son, brothers Francis, Charles, Emerson, George; sister Emily Foos Burtsfield. She was survived by children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews and special niece Rebecca Burtsfield Monnette of Marion Ohio.
