Alonzo West, age 90, passed away Sunday, February 10 at the Wayne County Hospital in Monticello. He was born in Scott County, Tenn., on December 12, 1911, the son of the late George W. and Rachel Isabelle Phillips West. On November 26, 1947 he married Neva Coffey, who survives.


He is survived by nine children, Melwood West, Rachel Easter, Wiladeen Hill, James,, Daniel, Canie, Richard, Darrell and Jerry West; one sister, Betty Davis; 17 grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Preceding him in death are three sisters, Delie Walter, Delsa Lee and Della West.


He had accepted Christ as his Savior and was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church.


.∼Lonzo was married to Geneva Coffee on Nov 11, 1947. To this union 9 children were born, 7 boys 2 girls. Lonzo love to work with wood and he did a beautiful job. He repaired old pump organ's and coo coo clocks, at times he would have 50 clocks all working at the same time. They would go off but were always set at different times, it was a little noisy.
