Clair L. "Vern" Aldridge, 80, formerly of Kansas City, KS, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2008 at his home in Mountain Home, AR. Funeral services will be 3:30 P.M. Saturday, December 27th, at the Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 1:30 P.M. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. The family requests that any contributions be made to The Humane Society of North Central Arkansas. Vern was born April 8, 1928 in Muncie, KS to Dorsey N. and Clara Mae (Green) Aldridge. He had lived in the Kansas City area most of his life, before moving to Mountain Home 10 years ago. Vern was an Iron Worker 39 years before retiring in 1988. He was an Air Force Veteran and a member of Open Door Baptist Church. He loved fishing and spending time with his great-grandson Lathon, who was the light of his life. Vern was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister and 4 brothers. Survivors include his wife of 59 . years, Shirley Aldridge of the home; 2 sons, Marvin Aldridge (Claire) of New Smyrna Beach, FL, and Henry Lee Aldridge of Morrilton, AR; 2 Daughters: Clara Bell of Kansas City, MO Sharon Bellassai (Michael) Gassville, AR; 1 sister, Hazel Gerster of Warrensburg, MO; 1 brother, Jesse Aldridge of Kansas City, KS; 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
