My grandmother Marian Rosengarten was a waitress throughout my lifetime. She also lived in the same apartment in East Dayton from the time I was born until she passed away in October of 1987. The restaurants that I can recall where she was employed were: Henrici's in Downtown Dayton, Guenther's Linden House in East Dayton, The Fireplace Inn near Kettering, Ohio, (where I worked with her as a bus boy for a few years) and Tuty's Inn near Beavercreek, Ohio. I am certain that any of her customers would rememember her quite well. She once mentioned to me that she waited on both Mickey Rooney and Arthur Godfrey while working at Henrici's and that they would regularly ask for her. She always strived to be the very best at what she did and would go out of her way to please her customers. She was a FANTASTIC cook who loved to have people over to her place for dinner gatherings, etc. Her German Chocolate Cake was always a frequent request! The memories that I have of all of the family gatherings at her apartment are priceless. During the warmer months, she always had a beautiful display of flowers & plants on her outside patio in which she took great pride. She loved to make it look as colorful and pretty as possible, and that she did! Grandma was one of six children. She had 2 sisters, Mary Sanders Dock (wife of Charles Dock who both live in Englewood, Ohio. She is the only surviving sibling, and an AWESOME cook in her own right! All 3 of the sisters were great cooks actually!) and La Vene Sanders Brock (wife of Kenneth Brock) who lived in Celina, OH. She also had 3 brothers, Joe Sanders, Ted Sanders, and Urcell "Jay" Sanders of Celina, OH. It is safe to say that nobody on this planet has ever shown me more love, kindness, and generosity than she did. She would always go out of her way for me and I truly miss her.
