Thomas Joseph Myers, 81, 1229 Walton Ave., Altoona, died Friday at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus. He was born in Wappingers Falls, N.Y., son of the late George and Mary (Clear) Myers. He married Margorie Hagen, who died April 23, 1962. He then married Nancy Albright, who died March 3, 1986. Surviving are a daughter, Pamela Ann Minacci and husband, Eric, of Huntersville, N.C.; two sons: Thomas James and wife, Wendy, and David John, both of Altoona; and eight grandchildren: Brian, Ian and Janelle Rhodes, Rachel and Randi Hockenberry, Angela and Stephanie Hoffman and Joseph Myers. Thomas was a graduate of Wappingers Falls High School and Alfred University, Alfred, N.Y. He was a Navy veteran of WWII. He retired from GTE Sylvania as a ceramic engineer, having worked in Emporium and Altoona, with 27 years of service. He enjoyed being an instructor for more than 30 years for the Dale Carnegie course. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed leather work and Pittsburgh Steelers games. Thomas was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Altoona. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 4, 2009, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Committal at St. Mark Catholic Cemetery, Emporium, Pa.
