WIDELY-KNOWN PIONEER IS STRICKEN SUDDENLY
November 1, 1914

John (W.) Bechtold succumbed to attack of heart disease Sunday.

John (W.) Bechtold, seventy-three years old, died suddenly of heart disease about 1:30 o'clock at his home one mile west and 2 miles north of Bippus while talking to George Hanauer an old friend whom he had invited to his home at church services in the morning.

He was in his usual health all day Sunday. He attended church, and was waiting dinner when Mr. Hanauer noticed that he swayed and leaned forward slightly.

He did not speak and slipped from his chair. Mr. Hanauer catching him before he struck the floor. When members of his family reached his side he was dead.

Mr. Bechtold was very widely known in Wabash, Whitley and Huntington counties, having lived in Warren Township, this County several years before moving to Wabash County.
