Mrs. Emma Hundley Dies of Injuries Received April 24

Funeral services were held Saturday [May 4] at 2 p. m. at the Stanton & Stanton chapel, Atchison, for Mrs. Emma Alice Hundley, 83, who died at 3:30 o'clock last Thursday [May 2] afternoon at the Atchison hospital of injuries received April 24 when she fell on a stairway at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Sam [Maud] T. and Mr. Young 406 S street. Atchison. Rev. Loyal S. Northcott, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, Atchison, officiated. Interment was in the Round Prairie cemetery.

Pallbearers were George Sprong, Tom Pennington, Dean Sacks, Will Cahill, P.P. Knoch, and Will Kramer.

A daughter of Mary and George Barks, Emma Alice Barks was born in Indiana June 17, 1862. She moved to Missouri with her parents, where the family settled on a farm.

Dec 6, 1887 she was united in marriage to William Addison Hundley and they began housekeeping on a farm in the Round Prairie neighborhood, Mr. and Mrs. Hundley moved to Potter about 12 years ago. After Mr Hundley's death here in 1938 Mrs. Hundley moved to Atchison.

Mrs. Hundley was a member of the Christian church and a life member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was a gracious and kindly person whose friendliness and loyalty won many friends.

Surviving are three children, Mrs. Walter Hoy, St. Joseph, Mo., Vernor Hundley, Oskaloosa; Mrs S.T. Young. Atchison; three step children, Ashton Hundley, Atchison; Will Hundley. Lancaster; Mrs. Nylund, Los Angeles; a brother, Noah Barks, Bedford, Ia.; a sister, Mrs. Cora Caudle, Sheridan, Mo.; 15 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
