She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph R. Carpenter Sr.
She retired from the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Shenandoah Junction, W.Va.
She is survived by four sons, Ralph R. Carpenter Jr. and Robert W. Carpenter, both of Shepherdstown, Joe Carpenter of Rockville, Md., and John Carpenter of Charles Town, W.Va.; one sister, Emma Benner of Sharpsburg; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Joyce A. Tertel.
Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Christ Reformed Church of Shepherdstown. The Rev. Robert Campbell will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg, W.Va. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 122 Waverly Court, Martinsburg, WV 25401.
