He was a blacksmith. He was in inventor a jack for hoisting wagons, carts, and machinery which he had been building himself. He had it patented more than a year ago and was completing arrangements just recently to have it manufactured on a larger scale.

Daughters: Mrs. M.F. Myers of KcKeesport, PA, Annie G. Gogley and Mrs. William Burke of Cumberland.
Brothers: Jacob and David Gogley in Everett, PA. both also blacksmiths
