James D. Potter was born January 3, 1935 in Jackson County and departed this life Tuesday, September 16, 2008, being 73 years of age. He was the son of the late Richard & Lula (Adkins) Potter.

J.D. is survived by his Janice (Young) Potter of McKee and by two daughters- Jamie Collins & her husband Jason and Sheila Flannery & her husband Freddie (Bud) all of Tyner. He is also survived by step-daughter- Diana Hurst & her husband Jackie of Tyner; by a brother- Harvey Potter of McKee and by two sisters- Lizzie Marcum of Sand Gap and Charlotte Harrison of Tyler, Texas. J.D. was blessed with a grandchild- Taylor Flannery.

In addition to his parents, J.D. was also preceded in death by a son- Billy Potter and by a sister- Christian Eversole.

J.D. was a member of the Gospel Mission Pentecostal Church.



Funeral service was held 1:00 PM Friday, September 19, 2008 at Lakes Funeral Home with Bro. Carlo Davidson officiating. Burial followed in the Pilgrams Rest Cemetery. Lakes Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Freddie Flannery, Jason Collins, Carter Flannery, Troy Flannery,Travis McKinney, Cloyd Young and Dwayne (Red) Hurst. www.lakesfuneralhomemckee.com
