(bio by Citadel Alumni Association) Col. Bond was the 9th President of The Citadel, serving from 1908-1931, and then Dean of the college from 1931 until his death in 1933. Bond's class of 1886 was the first graduating class since 1864 because of the 17 year occupation of the college by federal troops. Among its graduates, aside from Bond, 3 other's became Presidents of very prestigious college's. An author as well as an educator, Bond Hall is named in his honor.
