Gladys Marie Freeman Rogers
(August 23, 1915 - May 5, 2009)
Gladys Marie Freeman Rogers of Edneyville, died peacefully on May 5, 2009. She was 93 years old and the daughter of the late Creole Columbus Freeman and Madonna Whiteside Freeman of Edneyville. She was the wife of the late William Lloyd Rogers who died in 1990. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers; Leo, Arthur, Aaron, Ralph, and Spurgeon Freeman. She was a 1933 graduate of Edneyville High School and a 1935 graduate of Cecil's Business College of Asheville. She retired from Cranston Print Works in 1977.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Rosemary Underwood Pace and husband, Ralph of Edneyville; her precious granddaughter, Angela Maria Pace Nieberding and husband, Robert of Cincinnati, Ohio; the lights of her eyes, her beautiful great grandchildren, Brooks Alexander Nieberding and Ashleigh Elizabeth Nieberding of Cincinnati, Ohio. God's greatest gift to us was a loving mother.
"To the world you might just be one person, But to one person you were the world."
She loved her family dearly and was gifted by God with a very long and successful life. She loved to travel and bequeathed that love of travel to her daughter and granddaughter. She loved to garden and she was an avid lover of animals.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, May 8, 2009 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church where she was a lifelong member. Reverend Harriet Shands will officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park on Tracy Grove Rd. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, May 7, 2009 from 7:00PM to 8:30PM.
