Funeral services for Bernard D. "Jake" Burke, of Farmersville will be 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in Murphy-Hough Funeral Home, Farmersville, with burial in the Macoupin Creek Cemetery, Farmersville. Visitation after 5 o'clock Monday.
Mr. Burke, 33, was dead on arrival at 4:12 o'clock Saturday at Springfield Community Hospital.
He was born in Taylorville, a son of Bernard and Mary Bible Burke. He was an Air National Guard member and a volunteer fireman in Farmersville. He married Judy Shoup in 1970.
Surviving are his wife; daughters, Amy and Mary Alice, both at home; mother of Farmersville; brother, Charles of Pawnee; sister, Mrs. Paul (Alice) Bogan of Springfield.

Mr. Burke was born September 10, 1945 in Taylorville, the son of Bernard and Mary (Bible) Burke. He married Judy C. Shoup in 1970. Mr. Burke was a 1963 graduate of Farmersville High School. He worked as a coal miner at Crown Coal Mine #2 in Virden for 9 years. Mr. Burke was also a volunteer firefighter. He served in the U.S. National Guard from 1963 to 1967. He attended Farmersville United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Judy; two daughters, Ms. Amy Burke and Ms. Mary Burke, both of Farmersville; his mother, Mrs. Mary Burke of Farmersville; one sister, Mrs. Paul (Alice) Bogan of Springfield; one brother, Charles “Butch” Burke of Pawnee; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, 1979, at Murphy-Hough Funeral Home. Burial followed in Macoupin Creek Cemetery.
