Anna Maria Setten, 90, died at the Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls, Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002.
Anna, the daughter of the late Peter and Minnie (Benson) Frei, was born Aug. 17, 1912, at Stephen, where she attended school and grew to womanhood.
On January 18, 1936, she was united in marriage to Severt Setten near Strandquist. The couple lived and farmed in Nelson Park Township for many years.
Anna was a long time member of the Bethesda Lutheran Church of Strandquist and active in church affairs. She also served as church organist at Bethesda and at Hegland Lutheran Church. She was an avid quilter.
Severt died Aug. 16, 1984, and in 1990, Anna moved to the Oakwood Homes in Karlstad where she has since made her home.
Anna is survived by two daughters: Lois, Mrs. Stanley DeMeyere, Warren and Marlys, Mrs. Lee Kuznia, Barnesville; five grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren, two sisters: Alice Anderson, Warren, and Lillian Lay, Bonsall, Calif. and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one sister, Vivan, and five brothers: Arthur, Paul, Vernon, Philip, and Robert Sheldon, and one grandson: Robert Wayne DeMeyere in infancy.
Services were Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002 10 a.m. at Bethesda Lutheran Church, Strandquist. Pastor David Pretty officiated. Internment was in Hegland Church Cemetery, Strandquist.
Arrangements were with Collins Funeral Homes of Karlstad, Middle River and Greenbush.
