Born on shipboard within in the 12 mile limit, some records show born Harrisburg, PA - where parents settled first. Per the Methodist Church records, the family moved to Lawrence County, Ohio when he was young. He attended Ohio Northern University to prepare for the Methodist Ministry. He was called to serve a church in Cereda, West Virginia. In 1906 he became a member of the Ohio Annual Conference. He served in Otway, Hebron, Baltimore, Basil, Bainbridge, Williamsport and ultimately at Grace Church in Columbus, Ohio (1928-1946). The church installed a baptismal font in his memory. During the depression he served the poor and needy of all faiths, helping them with courage and hope.
He was also a veteran of the Spanish-American War. 7 Ohio Infantry Company I
