Richard Napoleon was the 11th child born to Joseph Henry and Rosa Lee Seay Smoot.

Richard was a private in the U S Army during WWI and was in the 8th Regiment Infantry Div. in Dierdorf, Germany.

Richard and Sarah Lett had a daughter Virginia Mae.

He settled in Huntington West Virginia, and married Alma Alline Wellman on May 1, 1923 in Catlettsburg, Boyd County, Kentucky.

Born to this union: Richard Eldred, James Reuben, Virginia Alline and Alma Rose Goodrich.

Richard went to work for Charles Bolt Glass Company which later became Owens Illinois Glass Container. Richard was a hard worker, enjoying gardening but most of all he loved his family. Richard died a young man following a couple of heart attacks.
