Death Notice for, LEOTA CURL
Leota Pearl Evans Curl, passed away on 30 Dec 2009, at Flagstone Assisted Living Center in The Dalles where she had been for the last three and a half years suffering from dementia.
Leota was born in Richmond, Woodward, Oklahoma, 01 Nov 1922, to Charles E. and Pearl I. (Melson) Evans. She had two brothers, Benny and Merrill (Corky). All the children were born on Nov. 1st, two years apart, Benny in 1920 and Corky in 1924. Her parents and brothers have preceded her in death.
The family moved to Colorado in the 1930s, then to Oregon and on to Lyle in 1939 where Leota attended Lyle High School and graduated in 1940. There she met and married James Andrew Curl. In the following years they made their home in Maupin, Ore., and White Salmon, until 1949 when they returned to Lyle to operate their business and raise their family of three daughters, Vicke, Lynda and Christy.
Leota is survived by her husband, Jim, of Lyle; daughters, Vicke Stephens of Portland, Lynda Durbin of Dufur and Christy Swales of Lyle; eight grandchildren and 13 great, grandchildren and five nieces and nephews.
The family graveside service was held Jan. 3, 2010, at Lyle-Balch Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in White Salmon on Saturday, Jan. 16, at 3 p.m.
Remembrances may be made to the church or a charity of your choice. The Gardner Funeral Home handled arrangements.
