Lindon Roger Baker, 72, retired inspector for Union Carbide Corporation with 32 years service, died Friday, May 8, 2009 at his residence on Shouse Road in the Santa Fe Community.

Funeral services were conducted Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Mike Kelley officiating. Burial will be in Santa Fe Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19.

The Maury County native was the son of the late Benton Hunter Baker and Mary Archer Baker and attended the Methodist Church for a number of years. He was a 1954 graduate of Santa Fe High School and served in the U. S. Army.

He was married April 23, 1959 to the former Donna Faye Bell. Mrs. Baker died December 25, 1998.

Survivors include daughters, Cathy (Michael) Hanes and Carol (David) Scott, both of Santa Fe; son, Lindon Hunter Baker of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Derrick Scott, Drew (Amanda) Scott, Jake Sproul, Ethan Hanes, and Eli Hanes; great-grandson, Landon Scott; sisters, Colleen (Tom) Hargrove, Maxine (Jack) Lockhart, and Gaye Peach, all of Santa Fe; brothers, Vernon (Virginia) Baker of Blacksburg, Virginia and Randall (Jean) Baker of Santa Fe; close friend, Billy Warf; sisters-in-law, Carolyn (Roy) Horton of Knoxville, Judy (David) Brown of Columbia, and Janice Bell of Las Vegas, Nevada; brothers-in-law, James Edward Bell, Jr. of Columbia, Church Howlett of Nashville, and J. D. Holt of Charleston, South Carolina; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Thelma Howlett, Esta Holt, and Evelyn Baker; a brother, Jerry Baker; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Peach.

Active pallbearers were Larry Baker, Steve Lockhart, Marty Lockhart, Jack Lockhart, David Brown, Bobby Potts, Ben Bayless, and Ned Rich. Honorary pallbearers include Billy Warf, Roy Horton, Union Carbide employees and friends in the Santa Fe Community.
