Mrs. Lula Carper Pearce of Pulaski died Saturday afternoon in Pulaski General Hospital. Saturday was her 87th birthday. She was the widow of Wilbur Orris Pearce. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Morris & Mrs. Mary Gannaway of Pulaski; five sons, Olin A. Pearce, Lawrence N. Pearce, Alfred S. Pearce, W. Oscar Pearce and Ralph C. Pearce, all of Pulaski. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Audry C. Robeson, Mrs. Minna Hodge, and Mrs. Kate C. Johnson of Pulaski; 16 grandchildren;, and 13 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday from Stevens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Auburn Bowers officiating, assisted by the Rev Charles Tushing. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to the Lutheran Synod of Virginia, 317 Washington Avenue, Roanoke, Virginia. Friends may call at Stevens Funeral Home between 7-9 p.m. today.
