CANASTOTA Nov 10 -- The death of William H. Parmalee. 77 a veteran of the Civil War occurred today at the home of his niece, Mrs. James V. Knowlton of West Hickory street with whom he resided. He had been in failing health for sometime, but was able to go to the polls and vote Tuesday.

Mr. Parmalee was a native of State Bridge and during his active years was a carpenter. He had resided in Canastota for several years and had been active in Reese Post G. A. R. of this village in which he was serving as quartermaster at the time of his death.

He saw service in the Civil War, was a member of the 117 New York Volunteers. While a resident of the Durhamville vicinity, Mr. Parmalee served his township as supervisor.

Surviving besides the niece, Mrs. Knowlton, is one daughter, Mrs. Ida Greenleaf of New Hartford and two nieces, Mrs. James Newton of this village and Mrs. Harley Walker of
New York, Julian Bortle of this village is a nephew.

A brief funeral service will be conducted privately by Reese Post G. A. R. at the Knowlton home at 1:45 o'clock Wednesday afternoon and the body will be taken to
Durhamville where services will be held at St. Andrew's Church at 3 o'clock with Rev. W. R. McKim of Oneida officiating. Interment will take place in the Grove Cemetery at Higginsville. Friends may call at the house from 7 to 9 o'clock Tuesday evening.
