Jewel Newton Kelly, Kingman, Arizona died at her home on Nov. 16, 1999. She was 77.
She was born July 18, 1922 in Miami, to William Edgar Newton and Mamie Vivian Graham Newton.
She was a licensed vocational nurse and was a supervisor over Central Nursing Services at Brea Calif. Neuropsychiatric Hosptial when she retired. She enjoyed many hobbies, including crocheting, reading, and oil painting.
Her grandparents, Henry Newton and Emma Newton, were founding members of the Mount Zion Baptist Church of rural Miami.
She married Harry Floyd Kelly on October 20, 1939, in Columbus, Kansas.
Additional survivors include a daughter and her husband, a son and his wife, 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, William Edgar Kelly, in 1979.
