Mrs. George was born Nov. 8, 1931, in Anson. She married Jimmie George on Aug. 28, 1949, in Weslaco. She was a rural mail carrier in Castro County for more than 50 years. She was an avid bowler and home decorator. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Dimmitt.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Bonnie George in 1974; her father, E.L. Carpenter; a sister, Pat Carpenter; and a granddaughter, Cleda Lee Rice.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Shelly Rice and husband, Danny, of Dimmitt; four grandchildren, Marty and Tisha of Nazareth, Ramey of Witchita Falls, and Brandi of Albuquerque, N.M.; two great-grandchildren, Blakely and Merry; her mother, Irene Carpenter of Rocky Ford, Colo.; and a sister, Joyce Autry and husband, James, of Rocky Ford.
The family suggests memorials be to Odyssey Hospice, 1600 S. Jefferson St., Amarillo, TX 79104.
