Harry worked in the Doan's pharmacy during high school and delivered the Kansas City Star newspaper. He was able to play any band instrument, winning the National Regional Solo contest his junior year. Harry Floyd Junior Kelly has been a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (like his parents and sister, Joyce), as well as being a 15 year Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America. He was named an Honorary Deputy Sheriff in Ottawa County, Oklahoma.

He married Jewel Newton, daughter of William Edgar and Mamie Vivian (Graham) Newton, a high school classmate, and a few years later enlisted in the United States Navy on February 13, 1946 in Norman, Oklahoma. Following two years service, Harry returned to Cardin, Oklahoma and went to work for Eagle Pitcher Power Plant as a plant operator. He went back to school and obtained an Associates of Arts Degree from NEO Junior College (attending from 1950 through 1952). Many years later, Harry went to work for Union Oil Company in California as a field superintendent.

Harry Floyd Junior Kelly suffered a massive heart attack at the age of 38 while living in Miami, OK. He had been working at Goodrich seven days a week, twelve hour days on graveyard shift.

Harry and Jewel converted to Southern Baptist shortly before Jewel's death.

Harry Floyd Kelly of Kingman, Arizona died Sunday Aug. 24, 2003 in Peoria, Ariz., after a long illness. He was 80.
Kelly was born Feb. 19, 1923 in Baxter Springs, Kan., to Harry Floyd and Sadie Virginia Kelly.
His parents died when he was 13 and he was adopted by his uncle and aunt, Harry and Josephine Doan, of Miami(Oklahoma). He attended Miami High School. He lived in California, moving from Miami in 1962.
He was a World War II veteran of the Navy. He is listed in the memorial to World War II veterans in Washington D. C.
He was employed by Union Oil Company. He married Jewel Newton of Miami in 1939. She preceded him in death on Nov. 16, 1999. He was also prededed in death by one son, William Edgar Kelly.
