Major John Boggs served in the War of 1812. He was raised on Boggs Run, Ohio Co. VA which was near Wheeling. Later county and State changed names. His mother was Jane Irwin his fathers first wife. He came with his father in 1796 to locate new land which included the Logan Elm where Chief Logan and Lord Dunmore signed the treaty. Major Boggs died at his son Moses home located in the area of Elmwood Farm.This is Major John Boggs Jr. cemetery gravestone. He also has the large one at Logan Elm Park across the cornfield.
