He was a 1952 graduate of Boone High School and graduated from the Boone Campus of Des Moines Area Community College in 1982, with a business and accounting degree. From Iowa State University in 1986 with degree in business & computer science. In earlier years he worked for Hallett Materials in Boone, and for 25 years a truck driver for Doughboy Feeds of Ames. Worked two years as computer programmer for Preferred Risk Insurance Company in Des Moines, retiring in 1988 because of a disability.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Christine & Meric Rouse of Macon, GA., Debbie & Chuck Rummans of Knoxville, and Mary Fees of Altoona; two step-children, Mary Ruth & Dale James of Alba, MO. and Warren "Eddie" & Joy Daggett of Murrieta, Calif.; two sisters, Margaret Burch of Cumming and Pauline Clark of Emmetsburg; seven grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.
Private graveside services and burial were held Aug 2. at Oakwood Cem. in Moingona with Rev Walt Collins officiating. Schroeder Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
