Mr. Wendt was married to Katie Violet Durant on October 6, 1920, and to this union were born three children, all of whom survive: two daughters, Mrs. Helen Hill, Plato, and Mrs. Luella Switzer, Wichita; and one son, Carl W. Wendt, Banning, California.
Other survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Birdie Mires, Houston, and Mrs. Marlon Howard, Mountain Grove; one brother, Erich A. Wendt of Wichita; and 11 grandchildren, one preceding him in death in 1951.
He was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church of Maize, Kansas, for many years.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon, July 30, at the Bado church with the Rev. George Howard officiating. Burial with Masonic rites was in the church cemetery under the direction of Elliott's of Houston.
