Monday afternoon, May, the eldest daughter of General and Mrs. J. C. Cowin, was taken ill. The symptoms of the malady were so lightly diagnosed that no serious results were expected. Yesterday the child was not so well and the family physician, Dr. Summers, spent three hours at the house. At 6:45 o'clock the household was wrapped in gloom, for a change for the worst had come very suddenly and the little heart had ceased to beat. May was only 14 years of age, but was a great favorite with all her comrades and so beloved by her elders that her sudden taking away in the very springtime of her life will sadden many homes where she was known. The cause of her death was heart disease. Arrangements for the funeral services will be made today.
