MILDRED IRENE GARIS

Mildred Irene Garis, 89, of Emlenton RD 3 (Turnip Hole) died at 2:30 pm Monday in Franklin Regional Medical Center after a short illness.

Born December 17, 1897, in West Freedom, she was a daughter of John W. S. and Sarah E. Best Fox.

On May 16, 1915, she married Carlton S. Garis at Alum Rock. He died in 1951.

Mrs. Garis was a homemaker who attended the United Methodist Church and Lady Rebekah Lodge in West Freedom.

Survivors include: a son William E. Garis of Emlenton RD 2; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Garis had been the last survivor of a family of twelve children. She was also preceded in death by a son Charles R. in 1945 and a grandson.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 pm today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Wednesday in the McKinney-Hile Funeral Home of St. Petersburg, Christopher Hile, director.

Services will be held at 2 pm Thursday in the funeral home, with Rev. Wilbert Beck, pastor of Big Bend United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will be in St. Petersburg Cemetery.
