COUNTRYMAN.--Eleanor Brownell Countryman, widow of Rev. J. B. Countryman, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Herbert E. Sperry, in Williamson, New York on May 19, 1936. Besides her daughter, she leaves a son, Everett C. Countryman of Albany, New York. Her father, Rev. Veranus Brownell, was an itinerant minister in the early days of the old East Genesee Conference, when pastors did most of their traveling on horseback. She met her future husband while they were both students in Troupsburg Academy. Her first parsonage home was at East Otto in 1867. For more than sixty years she was an active and conscientious helpmate in the work of the ministry. Her many friends and relatives will always remember her for her fine character as a Christian, discriminating judgment and a keen sense of humor. Interment was in Mt. Hope Cemetery at Rochester, New York.
