NEW BERLIN - Betty J. "Mee Maw" Suttill, 73, of New Berlin, died at 8:20 a.m. on Sunday, May 10, 2009, at Lewis Memorial Christian Village.

Betty was born July 26, 1935 in Versailles, IL, the daughter of Charles and Dora VanHinning Curtis. She married Ron Suttill on September 22, 1956, in Springfield.

Betty attended New Berlin High School. She retired from the Diocese where she had been the cook for Bishop Ryan and the priests. She was also the district manager for Beeline Fashion and together with her husband, she owned and operated Suttill's Garden. Betty loved to cook and was a true gourmet. She enjoyed working at the farmer's market with her family and eating fish at the river.

Betty was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Club. Betty and Ron were devoted square dancers and belonged to the Yellow Rockers. They also enjoyed playing pinochle. Betty was a little league coach and an avid bowler. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, watching "The Young and the Restless" and "Jeopardy" and traveling. Most of all, Betty loved her family and her grandbabies.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Dan, Charles, Harold and Harry Edward; and two sisters, Doris and Carol.

She is survived by her husband of over fifty years, Ron Suttill Sr. of New Berlin; son, Ronald (wife, Kim) Suttill Jr. of Jacksonville; two daughters, Merry (husband, Lyle) Park of New Berlin and Jacque (husband, Mike) Simpson of Springfield; five grandchildren, Kristi, Dan, Charlie, Caitlyn and Colton; one stepgrandson, Wyatt; and three great-grandchildren, Lilly, Hailey and Tessa.

Family will receive friends from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at McCullough-Delaney and Butler Funeral Home, 714 E. Gibson, New Berlin.

Funeral ceremonies will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2009 at McCullough-Delaney and Butler Funeral Home with Pastor Jay Kroft officiating.

Burial will follow at Pleasant Plains Cemetery.
