Vellmar "Whistle" Abrams, 57, of Fayette County, died Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at his home.
Born Oct. 9, 1951, in Emerson, Ky., he was the son of Clyde Abrams and Myrtle (Littleton) Abrams. On March 19, 1982, he married Sara Wilhelm and she survives.
Mr. Abrams lived in Fayette County for 25 years. Prior to that he lived in the Laurel area. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a very active CBer whose handle was "Monkey Wrench."
Survivors beside his wife include three sons, Delmar Joe Abrams of Kentucky, Everett "Eddie" Abrams of Lawrenceburg, Daniel Abrams of Connersville; one daughter, Mary Jane Boyer of Cincinnati, Ohio; two stepsons, Brian Roberts of Indiana, Shawn Roberts of Laurel; three stepdaughters, Helen Huggins of Texas, Julia (Richard) Tackett of Ohio, Tracy Roberts of Ohio; two brothers, Jr. Abrams of Connersville, Paul Zornes of Kentucky; 23 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Moster Mortuary in Rushville. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to time of service Friday at the mortuary. Paul Zornes will officiate.
