Geneva June Short, 75, died Sunday, May 10, 2009, in Dalhart.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 15, 2009, at Lincoln Street Baptist Church with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery, Dalhart, Texas.
Geneva June McCleskey was born October 6, 1933, in Floyd, New Mexico to Marshal and Pearl (Fallen) McCleskey. Raised in Floyd, she graduated from Floyd High School in 1951. Geneva June McCleskey married Don E. Short on December 27, 1950, in Portales, New Mexico. They lived in Portales and Lubbock before moving to Dalhart in 1968. June worked for the school system as a teacher aid and drove a school bus for many years.
Survivors include her husband, Don of Dalhart, Texas; sons, Gary Short and his wife, Ozetta of Dangerfield, Texas and Doug Short and his wife, Stacy of Beaumont, Texas; daughters, Kayla Doss of Chicago, Illinois, Karen Berg and her husband, Gary, Kathy Swain and her husband, Chuck of Indianola, Iowa and Kim Speer and her husband, Roy of Sedan, New Mexico; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers and 1 son.
