J. B. Beckwith, age 77, a native of Fields, La and a resident of Dequincy, La., died Monday, May 11, 2009, at Lake Charles Memorial in Lake Charles, La. He was a member of Pentecostal House Of Praise. He Served his Country proudly in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW #3802, The Boiler Makers Union Local # 587 and the local coffee drinking men known as the "Geritol Crew". J. B. never met a stranger and was a friend to everyone he came in contact with. He was a faithful Christian man that loved the Lord with all his heart. He loved fishing, hunting and watching his grandchildren play ballgames. J.B. loved his family and was the proud Father of three girls and 5 grandchildren that he lived his life for. He was the worlds best babysitter and loved every minute of the time he would spend with his grandchildren. He was a beloved Father, Grandfather and Brother. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him and each life that he touched in his own special way.
He was the son of the late Eugene Beckwarth and the late Marva Perkins Beckwith.

He is survived by his

Three Daughters, Daughter-Denise Doyle and her husband Sammy of Dequincy, La. Daughter-Lisa Gearen and her husband Billy of Dequincy, La. Daughter-Angie Champagne and her husband Chet of Dequincy, La.

Two Sisters, Sister-Paulagene Bennett of Dequincy, La. Sister-R. E. Pickering of Silsbee, Texas

One Brother, Brother-Norman "Buddy" Beckwith and his wife Jeanette of Broaddus, Texas

Five Grandchildren, Dalton Gearen, Kaitlon Doyle, Trey Champgne, Khloe Doyle and Gunnar Gearen.

The Mother of his children, Dorothy Van Winkle Beckwith of Dequincy, La.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister - Laverne"Boogie" Baack, 3 brothers - R. C. Williams, Freddie Williams and Ralph Williams.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at Christensen Funeral Home. Visitation will resume from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM Thursday, May 14, 2009 at The Pentecostal House of Praise. Funeral service will be at Pentecostal House Of Praise at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 14, 2009 with the Rev. David Kennon, Rev. David Hennigan and Rev. T D Cardwell officiating. Interment will be at Masonic Cemetery in Dequincy, La.
