JOHN HENRY JUDD
John Henry Judd, son of Elijah and Catherine Judd, was born near Burlington, Des Moines county, Iowa on October 3rd, 1860, and departed this life January 14th, 1933, at Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of 72 years, 3 months and 11 days.
His parents died when he was quite young and he was reared by his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Judd of Cedar township, Lucas county.
He was united in marriage to Christina Elizabeth Etter and to this union eight children were born, five of whom survive. His wife preceded him in death on February 25th, 1923.
He spent most of his life as a farmer but sold agricultural implements for a time at Russell, Iowa. He also worked for a time as a carpenter. He was a past secretary and treasurer of the Lucas County Taxpayers League and was a member of the County Board of Appraisers for Inheritance Tax purposes for the last sixteen years.
He was married to Mrs. Emma Rash on October 14th, 1925, who survives him.
At the time of his death, he was serving his first term as senator in the Iowa Legislature, having been elected last November from the 4th senatorial district, Lucas and Wayne counties.
He is survived by five children: Dave Judd, James Judd and Mrs. Harry Carlson, all of Chariton; Mrs. Charles Baughman of Russell; and Mrs. Martin Willoughby of Casper, Wyoming; also fourteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and two half-sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Wolverton and Mrs. Emma Mumma, of Burlington, Iowa.
Funeral services were held at the Beardsley Funeral Home in Chariton on Monday forenoon at eleven o'clock, conducted by Rev. Harry Secor, with burial in the Bethel cemetery in Cedar township.

JOHN JUDD TAKES OWN LIFE SATURDAY
State Senator John H. Judd, 72, of Chariton, died early Saturday at the small apartment in which he lived near the state house in Des Moines. Coroner William Carpenter of Polk County gave suicide by poison as the cause.
