A native of Florahome, he had been a lifelong resident of Putnam County. He was a member of Pineland Lodge No. 86 F&AM in Palatka and had retired after 43 years on the Kraft Paper Machine at Georgia-Pacific. He was of the Lutheran denomination.
He was preceded in death by a son, Melvin McGrath; parents, George and Ethel McGrath; half-brothers, Harry and Dell Grainger.
He is survived by his step-sons, Duff Parish, Perry Parish and Tony Parish, all of the Palatka area; and a sister, Joyce Mullis of East Palatka.
Funeral services will be today, 11 a.m. at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka with Pastor Alvin Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Eliam cemetery in Melrose.
