J.B. Beames an aged resident of Scandia, died at the Sanitarium at College View, Nebraska, Sunday, February 8th 1920. He was born at Decater, Illinois, in 1836. Coming to Kansas in 1880 he engaged in the general mercantile business for several years after which he lived on a farm a short time, later coming to Scandia. For a number of years he was engaged in the clothing business from which he retired a few years ago. The funeral services were held Tuesday at the U.B. church conducted by Rev. Christy from Lincoln, Nebraska. He was laid to rest beside his wife in Riverview Cemetery.

J.B. Beames was born in Decater, Illinois, 1835 and moved with his parents to New London, Iowa, in 1836.
He was married in 1860 to Sarah Peasley at Brighton, Iowa. He moved with his family to Scandia, Kansas in 1880.
He died at the Sanitarium at College View, Nebraska, February 8th 1920.
Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord for they shall live again.
