Alton Percey Todd

Mr. Alton Percy Todd, 78, of Waycross died late Wednesday night at his residence after an extended illness. He was born in Hickox to the late Van Todd and Dora Mae O'Neal Todd. Mr. Todd had lived most of his life in Waycross and was a retired dragline operator for Ware County.

Mr. Todd was a member of Victory Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He visited several nursing homes were he would sing and play his musical instruments. Mr. Todd was a faithful servant of the Lord and was loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Alton Carl Todd, Sr., a daughter, Betty Todd Pittman, three brothers, A. C. Todd, Dewey Todd, Arnold Todd and one sister Lorena Walker.

Mr. Todd is survived by his wife of 56 years of marriage, Beatrice Lee Todd of Waycross, two daughters, Sandra Crews and Virginia Corbitt both of Waycross, nine grandchildren, Gene Hunt, Carlton Hunt, Carl Todd, Jr., Shawn Todd, Michelle Spicer, Kelly Strickland, Kerri Strickland, Eric Crews and Christina Crews, eight great grandchildren, four sisters, Alberta Ray of North Carolina, Bertha Mae Holton husband Mervin of McDonough, Lizzie Mae Roberson of Waycross, Doris Bennett husband Fay of Waycross, several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral service will be Saturday (May 16, 2009) at 11:00 am at the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will be receiving family and friends Friday night from 6 to 8pm at the Miles-Odum Funeral Home.
