Funeral services for Ferdinand J. Guenther, 78 , of Fordyce were held Friday, April 26 at 10:oo a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fordyce, Nebr. Rev. Cyril Werner officiated and interment was in the parish cemetery under the direction of the Smith Wintz Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Kenneth Guenther, James Hames, Michael and Gordan Steffen, Ralph Guenther and Dennis Wortmann, all grandsons of the deceased. Mr. Guenther died Tuesday, April 23, 1968, at Sacred Heart Hospital following and illness of about three years. He had strokes. Ferdinand J. Guenther was born August 28, 1889 at West Point, Nebr. the son of Fred and Catherine (Ortmeier) Guenther. He married Mary Foxhoven October 12, 1915 at Crofton, where they lived, engaged in farming, until 1961, when he retired and moved to Fordyce. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholi c Church and the Holy Name Society.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; five daughters: Mrs. Ted (Catherine) Dreismeier and Mrs. Victor (Elizabeth) Hames both of Crofton, Mrs. Anthony ( Mary) Steffen, Mrs. Rudolph ( Anna) Wortmann and Mrs. Roman (Roseline) Burbach, all of Hartington; five sons: Fred of Yankton, John of Wynot, Joseph of Sioux City, Ia. Clarence of Bloomfield and Albert of Norfolk: 63 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and three brothers: Casper and Fritz, both of Crofton, and JOseph of Beaver Dam, Wis.

Five brothers preceded him in death.
