Kathryn Lena Elder Hubbard

Taylorsville, N.C. - Kathryn Lena Elder Hubbard, 79, of Old Wilkesboro Road in Taylorsville, died Thursday, May 14, 2009, at her residence.

She was born Nov. 28, 1929, in Alexander County to the late John P. Elder and Geleda Nancy Jolly Elder.

She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and a retired poultry farmer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willis R. Hubbard; a sister, Jana Cockrell; and five brothers, Marvel Elder, Arvel Elder, Fred Elder, Herb Elder and Jack Elder; and a grandson, Zachary Hubbard.

Survivors include two daughters, Robin Hargis of the home and Nancy Hefner and husband, Terry, of Conover; a son, John Hubbard of Taylorsville; two sisters, Luda Wallace and Gladys Sigmon, both of Taylorsville; six grandchildren, Scott George and wife, Melinda, Heather George, Kayla Hefner, Dylan Hefner, Dillon Hubbard and Matthew Hubbard; three great-grandchildren, Haley George, Holden Nichols and D.J. Nichols; and two stepgrandchildren, Dakota Parson and Devin Nichols.

The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Monday, May 18, 2009, at Salem Lutheran Church by the Rev. Ray Ohlendorf.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.
