Ruby Whatley, 84, a native of Lake Providence, La., and longtime resident of Pascagoula died Thursday May 20, 2004 in Ocean Springs, Miss., Ms. Whatley was of the Baptist Faith. She was a seamstress at Cinderella Knitting Mills for many years. A hardworking, loving, and dedicated mother, Ms. Whatley was the sole provider for her children. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her three children: Bobby Gene (Debbie) Whatley of Gautier, Barbara (Larry) Barlow of Gautier, and Brenda Jane (Grant) Mitchell of Columbus, Miss.; one brother: James Leggette of Jackson, Miss., and four sisters: Hazel Chapman of Lake Providence, La., Annie Lough of Los Angeles, Calif., Virginia House of Lake Providence, LA., and Barbara Leg-gette of Pearl, Miss., four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Special thanks to Terry Waters and her staff, Our House Personal Care, The Dorchester Arms and Trinity Hospice.
Visitation was held Saturday May 22, 2004 from 6 until 8 p.m. at O'Bryant O'Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula.
Funeral Services will be Sunday May 23, 2004 at 3 p.m. from the Funeral Home's Chapel with Rev. Bill Barton and Rev. Grant Mitchell officiating.
Bryan Barlow, Larry Barlow, John Edward Baker, Ryan Baker, Kevin Winstead, and Tim Winstead will serve as active pallbearers and Francis E. "Shorty" Hutchinson, John Henry
Whatley, John House, and Dr. Steven Fineburg will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Interment will be in Machpelah Cemetery.
Arrangements are by O'Bryant O'Keefe Funeral Home, 4811 Telephone Road, Pascagoula, Miss.
