He was born in Colle, Italy to the late Franesco and Maria (Amadio) DeSantis.
He served in the Army Air Force for five years, including three with the 15th Air Force in Italy.
He emigrated to the U. S. in 1926.
He met his wife, Yole Giovanelli of Naples, and they returned to the U.S. in 1948 afte his honorable discharge from the military.
Dr. DeSantis is profiled in the "History of Italian-Americans of Berks County."
He is survived by two sons, Tullio and Dino; two grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; one brother, Ezio and one sister, Alvia Kramer.
He was preceded in death by his wife who died on April 28, 2006.
