Leo R. Bertrand, 83, of Indianapolis, Ind., former resident of Greensburg, Ind., and Kankakee native, died Tuesday (June 1, 1999) at Hooverwood in Indianapolis.
Visitation was at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home in Greensburg.
A funeral Mass was celebrated by the Rev. Steve Schaftlein, June 4, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greensburg.
Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Greensburg.
He was born June 7, 1915 in Kankakee, the son of Gordon and Mary Audette Bertrand. He was a graduate of the former St. Patrick's High School.
His wife, the former Dorothy Jean Bower, whom he married Aug. 31, 1939, died May 9, 1983.
Mr. Bertrand was a salesman for Utah Tailoring Mills for 40 years.
He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greensburg, the Knights of Columbus and the BPO Elks of Greensburg.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Patricia Bertrand of Wooddale; one daughter, Susan Dewitt of Indianapolis; two sisters, Lucille Rideout of Texas and Muriel DeMarah of Kankakee; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Phil Bertrand, his brother, is deceased.
