Harl J. McAlister, 90, of Battle Creek, died Wednesday, July 9, 2003 at Battle Creek Health System. He was born July 24, 1912 in Athens, TN the son of James A. and Maggie (Brown) McAlister. Mr. McAlister married the former Lorene Carter on June 2, 1962 in Vermontville, MI. He retired from Clark Equipment Co. on September 1, 1974 after 23 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and children. Mr. McAlister was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church where he served as an usher since 1984.
Surviving in addition to his wife Lorene are his four brothers Daniel of Atlanta, GA, Burley of Houston, MD, Lewis (Reba) of Decatur, TN and C.L. (Billie) McAlister of Harm, GA. He is also survived by two sisters Dora Russel of Decatur, TN and Jean McAlister of Hazel Green, AL and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Audie McAlister and his sister Ruth Fincher.

Visitation will be from 4:00pm to 7:00pm Sunday at Royal Funeral Home.Funeral services will be held 11:00am Monday, July 14, 2003 at Lakeside Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Childs officiating.Interment will be at Banfield Cemetery.
