Clara, daughter of the late Albert Gipfel and wife Ella, was born Dec. 30, 1923, in St. Louis. She was united in marriage to Jack G. London Sept. 16, 1944, in St. Louis. Clara resided in St. Louis until moving to Sun City, Ariz., in 1978. She moved back to this area in 2000.
Clara was a student of The Virginia Dorothy Dance Studio, and taught dance for many years. She also performed at the Muny Opera, St. Louis, and many other venues. Clara was Miss St. Louis in 1941, and was an accomplished pianist and organist. She also was very active in several Baptist churches in the St. Louis area.
Clara was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Jack G. London; and parents, Albert and Ella Gipfel.
She is survived by three sons, Gary London, Ron London and Jack London; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at Faith Baptist Church, Washington.
Family and friends are invited to a gathering following the service at Benson's Bar and Grill, 201 E. Main St., Union.
