Charles G. "Charlie" Keller, 95, of Burlington, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, May 13, 2009 in South Elgin. Charlie was born on the family farm November 24, 1913 in Henpeck, the son of Albert and Elizabeth (Amon) Keller. He married Mary Tomasheski on June 12, 1937 at St. Isadore Catholic Church in Cloverdale. He was a lifelong farmer, farming on the Swain-Hattendorf farms in Hanover Twp. from 1946 to 1985. He was a member of the Cook Co. Farm Bureau and the Elburn Co-op. He served as president of the Cook Co. ASC from 1979 to 1983 and was a past president of the Burlington Drainage District. During his retirement, he loved to be on a tractor at the Klein vegetable farms. Charlie was a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Virgil. Surviving are his wife of 71 years, Mary; son, Edward of Burlington; daughter, Marian Beckway of Phoenix, AZ; grandson, Trevor Beckway; granddaughters, Marsha (Brad) May and Michele (Robert) Murphy; great-grandchildren, Dakota and Kyle May, Kaleigh and Michael Murphy; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Frank, John, Albert, Sr., and Henry "Hap"; a sister, Bette Dwyer. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM Tuesday, May 19, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 5N939 Meredith Rd., Virgil, with Fr. Perfecto Vasquez officiating. Burial will be in the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Cemetery in Hampshire. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM Monday, with Rosary at 4:15 PM and Prayer Service at 7:30 PM at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire. Visitation will continue on Tuesday at the Church from 9 AM to 9:45 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions or Masses to the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
