Troy Thomas Hicks, my father's father, was the son of Rufus Patterson Hicks and Rufus' first wife, Alma Eva Coburn. My father was his only child. He was married once, to my father's mother, Edith Christine Westbrook, but their marriage didn't last for very many years.

In WWI, Troy served in the Navy as a Seaman 2C. He later worked as a (locomotive) fireman on the Texas and Pacific Railroad, and also as a fireman on large construction projects, including the Hoover Dam. He tragically died before his time at the age of 42, a pedestrian in an automobile accident.

MAY HE REST IN PEACE.
