Mrs. Dorothy Virginia Alexander, 81 of Thurmont, died Saturday, January 3 at the Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, PA. She was the wife of the late Paul Arthur Alexander, who died September 2, 2002. Born April 7, 1927 in Thurmont, a daughter of the late Walter Vernon and Ethel Kelly Smith. She worked part-time for 50 years in the summer at Camp Airy. She was a member of the Weller's United Methodist Church, Thurmont, American Legion #168 Auxiliary, the Thurmont High School Alumni Association, Class of 1944, and she was an avid Country Music fan. Mrs. Alexander was the last of her immediate family. She is survived by 2 daughters: Ethel Brauer and husband Alan L., Sr., and Paulette Mathias and husband Dennis all of Rocky Ridge; 5 grandchildren: Juliann Frantz and husband Rob of Rocky Ridge, Jamison Mathias and wife Melissa of Rocky Ridge, Alan L. Brauer, Jr. and fiancee' Shannon Steffes of Gallup, NM, Andrew Mathias and wife Heather of Rocky Ridge, and Kelly May and husband Adam of Rocky Ridge; 5 great-grandchildren: Kelsey Mathias, Gage Alan Frantz, Jolene Mathias, Kayleigh May Frantz, and Brody Mathias all of Rocky Ridge, many nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters: Madeline Frushour and Betty Eyler and 2 brothers: Charles and Luther Smith. Mrs. Alexander is at the Robert E. Dailey & Son Funeral Homes, P.A., 615 East Main Street, Thurmont where the funeral home will be open from 1-9 P.M., Tuesday, January 6 and the family will receive friends from 3-5 & 7-9 P.M., Tuesday at the funeral home. On Wednesday, January 7 Mrs. Alexander will be removed to the Weller United Methodist Church, 101 North Altamont Avenue, Thurmont, where she will repose from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M., at which time services will begin with her pastor Rev. Richard Broome, officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Cemetery, Thurmont. Memorials may be made in Mrs. Alexander's name to the Weller UMC, 101 North Altamont Avenue, Thurmont 21788.
