Mrs. Jacob Balo, wife of ex-commissioner Balo of Virginia twp. died Tuesday evening at 5 o'clock at the family home one mile from Adams Mills. For the past sixteen years Mrs. Balo had been in ill health and during the last seven weeks of her life she was critically ill suffering from uraemic poisoning. Since the sixth of May 1913 when she became so seriously ill her death has been almost daily expected. In spite of all that physicians could do for her she fought a losing struggle with death and the end came after a day of intense suffering yesterday.

Mrs. Balo previous to her marriage, was Harriet Tilton. She was born in Virginia twp. sixty-eight years ago on July 6, 1845. In Oct. 1866, she was united in marriage with Jacob Balo and continued to make her home in the same part of Coshocton county - in fact her home was always in Virginia twp.

While the later years of her life were spent in comparative invalidism, yet Mrs. Balo was well known in the section of the county where she had so long resided. She was beloved by all who knew her and the influence of devoted Christian life will live long in the memory of the friends who knew her best. From youth she was a staunch member of the Madison Presbyterian Church at Adams Mills.

In addition to her husband eight children survive. They are Edwin M. Balo of Raymon, Ohio, Mrs. William Frost of Adams Mills, Mrs. B.O. Haylor at Zanesville, Harry Balo of Adams Mills, Mrs. James McShane of Conesville, Jesse Balo of Columbus, Stace Balo of Conesville, and Raymond Balo of the home. Two brothers, O.M. Tilton and Thomas Tilton of Adams Mills, another brother, Richard Tilton, of Decatur, Ill. and a sister, Mrs. L. D. Taylor of Columbus also survive. There are 22 surviving grandchildren.
